Project Phases

Phases of the Project

  • Planning

We project a one-year planning period over the 2024 calendar year, during which time our team will produce a replicable pilot model for the Casa project in tandem with an academic program. This phase will involve community involvement and feedback, research, proposal writing, legal assessment, and the production of a publishable report that will serve as a guideline for the principles and practical application of the project.

  • Pilot

From the prospectus to implementation, we expect to launch an academic program and pilot a house project from 2025-2027. The program will recruit its first cohort, and in the second year of the program, a house will be acquired for a team of arts organizers who will be the first resident artists of the Casa project. As organizers, this team will build a series of programs based on community needs. Programs may include films, speaker series, local histories, poetry open mics, theater and media arts.

  • Replication

In order to successfully replicate a project, we will engage a thorough reflection process based on our first pilot project and make adjustments according to what we learn. As the academic program expands, students will assist in identifying next community house locations and build a program with a new cohort of residents and an expanded network of touring artists and programs. This phase includes consulting with community groups on how to acquire and regenerate the model for themselves.
